A participatory process is a sequence of participatory activities (e.g. first filling out a survey, then making proposals, discussing them in face-to-face or virtual meetings, and finally prioritizing them) with the aim of defining and making a decision on a specific topic.
Examples of participatory processes are: a process of electing committee members (where candidatures are first presented, then debated and finally a candidacy is chosen), participatory budgets (where proposals are made, valued economically and voted on with the money available), a strategic planning process, the collaborative drafting of a regulation or norm, the design of an urban space or the production of a public policy plan.

About this process
The Municipality of Budapest provides accommodation for people (and their families) who have recently lost their home (the address of the building is Kőbányai street 22, therefore we refer to the building as K22). Members of the Hungarian working group aim to strengthen intersectional inclusivity in that space, based on lived experience and perspective of the marginalized group of people living in the house together with a team of social workers and public officials employed by the municipality, researchers involved in the INSPIRE project.
Budapest Főváros Önkormányzata otthonukat elvesztett emberek (és családjaik) számára biztosít szállást a Kőbányai utca 22. szám alatti épületben (amit a projektben K22-ként emlegetünk). A magyarországi munkacsoport tagjainak célja, hogy a házban élő marginalizált csoport megélt tapasztalatai és perspektívája alapján nyitott és befogadó teret hozzon létre az épületben az önkormányzat által alkalmazott szociális munkásokból és köztisztviselőkből álló csapattal, valamint az INSPIRE projektben részt vevő kutatókkal együtt.
In 2025 a photovoice project will be launched to allow members of the group with housing needs to capture and reflect the strengths and problems of their community through images. The project will promote dialogue and create shared knowledge about personal stories and concerns of the community. Advocating for an adequate housing policy the project will use the Decidim platform to support learning and participation and to engage with decision makers of the city.. The results of the housing photovoice project would be presented to other residents, and more broadly to decision-makers, using participatory tools to help decide together the fate of the house at the political and municipal level.
Within the pilot researchers of the HUN REN Centre for Social Sciences collaborate with sociodrama experts of SCOPE working group of the Hungarian Psychodrama Association and with the social workers (BMSZKI) in the rented house to prepare this participatory pilot project addressing the housing crisis in Budapest.
